Poole General Hospital

Poole, Dorset

THE PROJECT

In February 2024, having secured a large competitive NHS tender for the removal and replacement of windows, curtain walling and external doors, we began the refurbishment works to three hospital buildings:

Building 1 – Child Development Centre,
Building 2 – Cornelia House
Building 3 – Education Centre

We undertook the works progressively to each building location installing over 150 windows across the site as well as multi-function doors with either maglock, electric strike or coded number locks for additional security.

Like all hospitals, Poole General Hospital is a very busy environment and stringent H&S measures to protect patients, visitors, hospital staff and our operatives alike was a key priority. We encountered a number of access issues, in particular due to the presence of a bike canopy that we were unable to move and used a cherry picker to access high level windows. During our time on site, all buildings remained working and in occupation throughout the progress of the works. We are always plan when working in occupied premises that disruption should be kept to a minimum and no one should be adversely affected by our works. We also worked closely with the site management team to programme our works to protect certain staff with allergies from coming into contact with solvents and plastics.
